PSD to email templates

Bullet-proof HTML email that arrives looking the way you designed it — in Outlook, in dark mode, and with images switched off.

Email is the one place on the web where 1990s rendering rules still apply. Outlook on Windows renders through Microsoft Word. Gmail strips your stylesheet. Dark mode inverts colours you never chose. An email template is not a web page, and coding it like one is why so many campaigns arrive broken.

So we code for the clients your subscribers actually use, not for the standards we wish existed. The structure is a hybrid layout — tables carrying the skeleton so Outlook has something it understands, with modern CSS layered on top for the clients that support it. Styling is written normally and then inlined at build time, because Gmail discards most of what sits in a style block.

Outlook gets the specific attention it demands. Its Word-based engine ignores background images, padding on many elements, border-radius and max-width. We use conditional MSO blocks and VML so buttons keep their shape, background images appear, and spacing holds — while every other client receives the clean version rather than the workaround.

Dark mode is now the failure most often reported to us. Apple Mail and Outlook recolour email automatically, which turns dark logos invisible on a newly dark background and washes out carefully chosen brand colours. We design the palette to survive inversion, supply logos that work either way, and test both modes rather than assuming light.

Apple Mail Privacy Protection also changed what your reporting means. Since it pre-loads tracking pixels for a large share of subscribers, open rates are no longer a reliable metric. We build templates that are measurable through clicks instead — properly tagged links and clear calls to action — so the numbers you report are ones you can defend.

Accessibility applies in email as much as anywhere. Tables used for layout are marked as presentational so screen readers do not announce them as data, images carry real alternative text that still communicates the offer when images are blocked, the document declares its language, and text contrast is measured rather than eyeballed. Roughly a third of subscribers see your email with images off on first open, so the alt text is doing more work than most people assume.

Every template is tested across the real client matrix before handover — Gmail on web, iOS and Android, Outlook for Windows across versions plus Outlook web and Mac, Apple Mail on macOS and iOS, Yahoo, and the Samsung and Android native apps — in both light and dark mode.

What you receive

  • Hybrid table-based structure that renders correctly in Outlook and cleanly everywhere else
  • CSS inlined at build time with a media-query layer for clients that support it
  • Dark mode tested and colour-safe, with logo variants that survive automatic inversion
  • Bulletproof buttons that stay clickable and keep their shape without an image
  • Meaningful alt text and presentational table roles so the email works with images off and with a screen reader
  • Single-column mobile reflow with touch-sized tap targets
  • Drop-in ready for Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Campaign Monitor, HubSpot, Braze, SendGrid or any ESP that accepts HTML

Sending a modular campaign rather than a one-off? We can deliver the template as reusable blocks your team recombines in the ESP, so a new send does not need a new build.

FAQ

PSD to Email — questions we get asked

Which email clients do you test in?
Gmail on web, iOS and Android; Outlook for Windows across supported versions plus Outlook web and Mac; Apple Mail on macOS and iOS; Yahoo; and the Samsung and Android native apps — each in both light and dark mode.
Why does my email break in Outlook?
Outlook for Windows renders through the Microsoft Word engine, which ignores background images, max-width, border-radius and much padding. We handle it with conditional MSO markup and VML so Outlook gets a version it can render while everyone else gets the clean one.
Will the template work in dark mode?
Yes, and it is tested there. We choose colours that survive automatic inversion in Apple Mail and Outlook, and supply logo treatments that stay visible on a dark background.
Will it work with my ESP?
Yes. Templates drop straight into Mailchimp, Klaviyo, Campaign Monitor, HubSpot, Braze, SendGrid or any platform that accepts HTML. Tell us which one and we will add its merge tags and editable-region syntax.
